For Estate Attorneys and CPAs

Digital Asset Estate Consulting

Bitcoin held in self-custody cannot be moved by court order. Whoever controls the keys controls the asset, regardless of what the documents say. Veritas Bitcoin Strategies is brought in on estate and trust matters involving Bitcoin or other digital assets so the plan the attorney drafts actually works.

Eric does not give legal or tax advice and does not draft documents. The attorney remains the attorney, and the CPA remains the CPA.

Eric never holds, sees, or stores a client’s keys, seed phrases, or recovery material, and is not a custodian.

The client relationship stays with the attorney. Eric coordinates with the attorney and CPA, keeps them informed, and never works around them.

Bitcoin-led estate support

The offering: Digital Asset Estate Consulting

The work is Bitcoin-led and covers any cryptocurrency or digital asset in the estate. Either the attorney engages Veritas on the matter, or the client engages Veritas directly on the attorney’s referral. Each engagement begins with a free discovery call.

Five common estate planning problems

01

Discovery and inventory

Determine what the client actually holds, where it is held, and who can move it. An inventory that distinguishes an exchange account, brokerage holding, qualified custodian, and self-custody is the starting point for workable documents.

02

Exchange accounts versus self-custody

An app or exchange account and keys the client holds personally require different handling in the plan. The operating model determines who can authorize access or transfer, and what practical access exists when the client is incapacitated or dies.

03

Choosing a custody setup

Compare qualified custodians, trust companies, and collaborative multisignature custody, including which arrangements can be titled to a trust. Eric helps evaluate and set up the custody arrangement with the provider, then coordinates trust titling with the attorney. Eric never holds or accesses keys.

04

Funding trusts with Bitcoin

A trust can be signed and still left unfunded. The practical steps for titling and moving digital assets into the trust must be coordinated with the chosen custodian and the attorney’s instructions.

05

Trustee and personal representative duties

A fiduciary needs a workable process to oversee a volatile asset prudently. That includes knowing what is held, understanding the custody arrangement, access and authorization, obtaining appropriate reporting, and coordinating with professional advisers.

Eric’s role

Custody coordination, not custody.

Eric helps select and set up custody with qualified custodians, trust companies, or collaborative custody providers, and coordinates titling with the attorney. He does not hold or access keys, seed phrases, or recovery material.
